WSO welcomes new bassoonist!

Elizabeth Mee has won the position of second bassoon for the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra

Elizabeth has performed with the Winnipeg Symphony as acting second bassoon since 2021. Prior to moving to Winnipeg, Elizabeth was a sought after freelancer in British Columbia performing regularly with the Vancouver Symphony, Victoria Symphony, Vancouver Opera Orchestra, Turning Point Ensemble, Kamloops Symphony, Okanagan Symphony, Vancouver Island Symphony, and as a chamber and solo musician. Elizabeth toured with the Vancouver Symphony as second bassoon during their 2017 BC Tour and 2018 Canada Tour. Elizabeth was second bassoon of the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra in Boston from 2008-2012, and a frequent extra with the Boston Philharmonic.

Bringing music to less privileged children, Elizabeth taught at the Saint James Music Academy in Vancouver, and with MusAid in Belize during the summers of 2014 and 2015.

Elizabeth received her Master of Music at McGill University and Bachelor of Music at New England Conservatory. Her primary teachers include Richard Ranti, Martin Mangrum, Stephane Levesque, Jeffrey Keesecker, and Kristen Sonneborn.

Eizabeth has participated in festivals including the National Repertory Orchestra, National Orchestral Institute, Round Top International Festival Institute, Domaine Forget Music Academy, Hot Springs Music Festival, Brevard Music Center, Lausitzer Opernsommer, and Rocky Ridge Music Center.

I am thrilled to be a part of the Winnipeg Symphony.  Not only are they incredible musicians, but also a kind and supportive group of people.
